Mumaith, heroine and Tollywood..2007

The heroine is an essential feature in Tollywood cinema! Heroine is meant for all the glitz, glam and performance. The year 2007 has seen an amalgamation of all these categories from a mere glam doll to the glorious leading lady with all the inputs of extraordinary performances

The heroines like Anushka, Nayanatara, Tamanna, Kajal, Priyamani, Mamta Mohandas, Ileana have strengthened their position in Tollywood.   The other established heroines like Trisha, Shriya, Bhumika, Genelia, Sneha, Charmi also continued their glory this year too! The migration of heroines from North continued this year also. Amrita Rao, Hansika Motwani, Neha Jhulka had introduced to Telugu cinema. Sindhu Tulani, Farzana , Navneet Kaur made their presence felt. In the entire episode, the very interesting things here are that the return of Simran on to Telugu silver screen is one and transformation of Mumaith Khan from item girl to full-pledged heroine is the other!

Trisha with her role in Aadavari Maatalaku Arthalu Verule, Shriya with the much-hyped Tamil dubbing of Rajinikanth, Shivaji, Genelia with Dhee, Charmi with Mantra, Ileana with Aata have won the accolades of the audience.  The movie, Yamadonga, has given rise to two relatively new heroines, namely, Priyamani who rose fame with Pellaina Kothalo and Mamta Mohandas, who successfully got the attention of the industry with her singing talent and winning a Nandi award !

Anushka of Super fame has emerged as the top-slot heroine this year with her movies, Lakshyam and Don with Nagarjuna. She has signed for more than half a dozen movies with Star heroes now. Nayanatara is the only heroine, who acted in three movies this year. She played the lead in Yogi, Dubai Sheenu and Tulasi. But none of them made a great impact on the audience.

Hawa of Northern girls:

The wave of Northern girls have continued this year too!  Of them all, Ileana has reached the stature of demanding Rs. 1 crore mark as remuneration!

Tamanna, who started her career with a flop movie, Shree, walked away with all the appreciation with Happy Days! Kajal Aggarwal, who entered to Tollywood with Teja's Laxmi Kalyanam has tasted a moderate success with Krishnavamshi's Chandamama!

The very hot favourites of Bollywood have entered to Tollywood this year. Amrita Rao, who has a Telugu connection but settled in Bollywood with Vivah and Main Hoo Naa, has played the leading role opposite Mahesh Babu in Atidhi. The child-artist-turned-actress, Hansika Motwani also made a debut with Allu Arjun's Desha Muduru!

Neha Jhulka acted in two films, namely,Okkadunnadu and Viyyala vari Kayyalu. Both of them failed at Box Office. Sindhu Tulani, Navneet Kaur too followed the same suit, while Farzana made an impression with Seema Shastri.

This year, Bhumika came out with Satyabhama and Anasuya, both of which are lady-oriented films. But, the latter only gave her success. The other important news related to her on the personal front is that, her marriage with Yoga trainer, Bharat Thakur. On the other hand, the top heroine of some time, who came from Punjab, Simran has made her re-entry with John Apparao 40+!

It is very special to mention about Charmi here. The actress originally hailed from Punjab and proved her mettle in Telugu cinemas. She learnt Telugu perfectly and lend her voice to the other Non-Telugu heroine, Kajal in Chandamama!

Tail Piece:

The news maker of this year is undoubtedly, the mesmerizing Mumaith Khan! She started her career as an item girl in Pokiri and gradually developed her craze and range! She played prominent roles in Evadaithe Nakenti and the super hit movie, Operation Duryodhana this year, followed by a full-fledged heroine role in Maisamma IPS.
