| The 7th year in the new millennium is really a unique event in the Diamond Jubilee year of Telugu Cinema! At last a happy sign has been appeared on the sky of tollywood movies. As usual this year also saw all sorts of movies starting from family entertainers to comedy to action to socio-political themes. The common factor in Telugu cinema in general is the drama and the melo-drama, which will be filled totally with filmi istle. In a welcoming note, this year had witnessed some of the newly interpreted movies which have embedded with a fresh, feel, fantastic ideas in story setting to film making. And the Telugu audience, this time,proved that, they will certainly accept different cinema and experimental cinema also, though they are not a formula-type!
The 7 samurai: Basing on the story idea, box office collections, popularity they got, performance of the artistes, song-dance sequences and the impact they shown on the public on the one hand and the complexity of the plot, screen play, scene arrangement, film-craft, presentation techniques, the elements of photography and music scores on the other hand, it is found that, the year 2007 had seen 7 super hits only! The year opened with a smile to the industry as the Puri Jagannath directed, Deshamuduru made the cash registers to ring. The Allu Arjun-Hansika Motwani starrer became a hit, even though the male protagonist's characterization towards the heroine is criticized by the audience. The 6-pack abs of Allu Arjun had stood at the top and at last, a hero with a chiseled body has emerged on the Telugu silver screen!The Venkatesh-Trisha starrer, directed by Sri Raghava, Aadavari Maatalaku Arthalu Verule, has got appreciation from all sections of the people and made Venkatesh as the family hero! The sensitivity in the plot with the tinge of contemporary software professional life amidst the family values caused for the success of the movie. In addition to this, the bond and the mutual concern of father and son, has made people to identify themselves in certain scenes. The SS Rajamouli directed movie, Yamadonga , had walked away with all the success all over AP. The socio-mythological theme on the very Telugu formula on Yama had attracted the people. It is very apt to mention the acting prowess and skills put by NTR, including his nice and attractive slim look with all his ease in dances and dialogues made the movie a crowd-puller. The essential presence of late NTR and Mohan Babu as Yama has made the movie a success and pasted a smile on the face of NTR after a long time!Lakshyam of Gopichand and Jagapati Babu with all its sentiment and family drama has walked in the path of success. Dhee Kotti choodu, directed by Sreenu Vaitla had come out as a full-length entertainer and became a hit. The comic scenes in the house of Srihari and comic-timing between Brahmanandam and Vishnu had essentially made the movie as the first hit to Vishnu in particular and the heirs of Mohan Babu in general. Undoubtedly, Genelia added every flavour to the success of the movie. The only hit movie released in this year on the contemporary political theme is Operation Duryodhana of Posani Krishna Murali. Srikanth had made an image make-over and the success has made him to join in the big league now! The title, the controversy it created on the Telangana issue and the plot of covert operation for the catharsis of the present political system has appealed to the masses. And, finally this is the year of Happy Days to Telugu cinema! The Shekhar Kammula directed biographical narration of youth life in general and lows and highs, arguments, aggressions,attachments, ambitions, achievements of the present young gen in special have made the youth audience and their parents to get a fresh feel. The young brigade of all new stars and the soulful music rendered by Mickey J Meyer and the back-drop of engineering college has given a life-size canvass to watch the movie with heart!
