Anushka is probably one of the biggest stars in the south today.
Her blockbuster Telugu film Arundathi is releasing today all over Tamil Nadu in its dubbed Tamil avatar.
The film’s success in Telugu is unprecedented and trade estimates state that the movie might collect about Rs 30 crores in Andhra, which is bigger than any big hero’s hit movie. A heroine-oriented film collecting so much is unique, but the film —directed by supernatural thriller specialist Kodi Ramakrishna — has become a trendsetter of sorts.
So, what made the film tick? The buzz is that the racy screenplay and super visual effects did the trick. Also, the performances of Anushka, Sonu Sood and Shayaji Shinde worked in favour of the film. Anushka, who has till now played only glam roles, came up with a praiseworthy performance. The industry talk is that the film, which is being released like a big hero film, may also become a hit in Tamil as such kind of “Amman films” have worked in the past.
