The first thing that strikes you when you meet Soundarya Rajinikanth is her energy. It’s this energy that grabs you when you shake her hand, when she walks into the room, when she goes about her business, and in this case, the business of being editor of this special edition of Chennai Times — The International Youth Day CT edition.
Once in the news room, Soundarya was at perfect ease, sifting through stories and picking ones that stood up to be read. Never once missing a beat, our vivacious editor went through all the trends and happenings that affected every Chennaiite and filled the room with her energy, and the stories, with interesting facts and bits of information that more than burnished the editorial offering.
“I’m not a party person, but I might have a few tips to offer,” she said. “But, I’m into fitness and can tell you a whole lot about that. So also with nutrition,” she continued, never tiring, as she filled page after page with stories picked meticulously. Until it came to the clincher — advice to the youth on International Youth Day. Who better to give this than the Sultan himself. Making full use of her access to ‘The Boss’, Soundarya got Superstar Rajinikanth to give direction to the youth at large. “This is what my dad tells me and this is what he’d like to tell every youngster today.” (TOI)
