Introduction

EVV Satyanarayana has kept his word to the audience. Likewise, he perfectly mixed the elements of sentiment and comedy and provided a message too. Specialty of the film is punch dialogues all through, making it a thorough pastime entertainment.

Plot

Raghu Babu, Sunil and Allari Naresh are three sons to Attili Venkata Ratnam (late SVR). Their father lived a noble life and died, but in contrast the three sons are different from each other. Raghu Babu and Sunil turn wastrels always boozing and gambling. Sattibabu (Allari Naresh) is wildly talked about in the town as a person who can even grab a mutton piece from a dog’s mouth and cook palav with that. Such a nasty and stingy fellow, he runs a tent house and does finance at skyrocketing interest rates. Money alone counts for him. He cares two hoots for any human values or sentiment. The story so set, a middle-classed village girl (Vidisha) is desperately in love with Sattibabu, who cares her not. Another girl (Kousha) too wants to lure him. All of a sudden things begin to change completely for Sattibabu. His LKG knowledge goes all waste to tackle the troubles. When he is about to lose the game, he realizes that money is not the only thing in life, but love and affection. Instantly, he starts loving human beings. What are the circumstances that changed Sattibabu? Whom does he marry? – These are the crux points to watch on the screen.

Performance

Allari Naresh played the role of Attili Sattibabu with élan and he dominates the screen from start to finish. His mannerisms have enough strength to make him a trademark in the industry.

Heroine Vidisha is superb in dance sequences and proved her mettle as a good dancer. She also has enough scope to display her talents. Looking innocent and wearing traditional village dress of paita and ooni, she looked beautiful. Another heroine Kausha is just average, but spilled enough expose to satisfy the skinshow lovers.  Third female lead Abhinaya Sri is out and out an exposed lot, playing the infamous yet highly comical Mangatayaru Tiffin Centre role. Krishna Bhagwan and Brahmanandam performed excellent comedy and gives a feel that the audience have watched a movie worth their bucks. Raghu Babu and Sunil have special appeal in this comedy flick. All the other noted comedians have brought ample justice to their roles.

Technical Details

Story, screenplay and direction by EVV Satyanarayana have a combined effect on the audience. Though some scenes defy logic, immediately there is a feel that it’s after all a comedy joint. Such is the power of EVV here in this movie.   Unlike his previous flicks, EVV depended much on the sentiment element here. While letting the first half run completely with comedy, he chose to fix in the sentiment in the second half. This has brought a change in the theatrical mood. At the same time, he succeeded in not letting out the comedy vein. Setting his screen drama in the popular town Attili, EVV further justified projection of the ambience of the backdrop. Dialogues make a major highlight in the movie. Coming to characterization, EVV seems to have ignored answering certain points. How come the son of a noble man turn so greedy and insensitive to the criticism of others? Of course, he preferred to answer this in the second half running thick to the climax, claiming change in the hero’s commercial attitude. This element sounds too dramatic, but you have to watch it. After all, it’s for entertainment. There is vulgarity in the Abhinaya Sri episode, but it’s controlled well within limits. But this would click well with the mass and the front benchers in B and C centers. Of course, why not in A centers? Music by new face Sri Krishna is just average, but he scored some excellent beats in certain song sequences. Cinematography by Jayaram is good. He captured the beautiful locations of Cambodia during the song canning. The complete English lyric is a good experiment in Telugu film, though its familiar in Bollywood.

Judgment

The movie is opened to good collections all over the released centers. The talk of the audience is very much satisfactory and the hit range depends on the patronage of the family audiences and comedy lovers in the coming weeks. The release time will sure fetch good revenue to the movie. With exams fever almost gone!
