Athidhi inspired by Man On Fire?

Mahesh Babu, who went to the zenith with Pokiri came down to the nadir with Sainikudu. Ramesh Babu, who produced the flop show Arjun, badly needs a hit. Surender, who gave a hit in Athanokkade, had to contend with the poor showing of Ashok. He too wants a hit. What do the hero, producer and director, burdened with a flop each, do to give a hit? The answer is simple. Follow formula Copy-Cat. Their venture Athidi is inspired, filmy jargon for plagiarism, by the Hollywood movie Man On Fire starring Denzel Washington. Even Amitabh Bachchan’s Ek Ajnabi was inspired by this English film, which did not do well. The theme of Denzel’s film, where the hero is the bodyguard of a child, is central to Athidi also. However, it is believed that the story was totally telugu-ised with sufficient commercial crowd-pulling elements added.
