Yuva Garjana: boost to Nandamuri family

GUNTUR: The Nandamuri family led by film star Balakrishna is the new hope for a majority of Telugu Desam Party supporters and second line of leaders in the district for giving a kick-start to restore its past glory.
Party leaders and supporters from Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts have taken ‘Yuva Garjana’ on November 5 as “the event” to give a boost to the party’s fortunes riding on the popularity of Balakrishna, Junior NTR and Tarakaratna.
Tarakaratna was open in his assertions in Nellore that Balakrishna was the man to look forward to for the future prospects of the TDP. Many leaders of the dominant community feel that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu cannot be relied upon in the coming elections and the Nandamuri family could improve their chances of springing back to power.
Image revival
Former Minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad told The Hindu that this event could sow the seed for undoing the neglect to Nandamuri family. “It will refresh party image in the current scenario when politics is getting divided along caste lines and the popularity of film personalities is growing,” he added.
Another party leader on condition of anonymity said that if given a choice, a majority of party leaders in the district would side with Balakrishna, but not during the forthcoming elections. “About 10 per cent of youth and five per cent of neutral voters will switch their allegiance to the TDP once the Nandamuri family enters active politics,” he said.
“A sense of neglect is prevailing among party sympathisers belonging to the dominant community, who are ready to vote for the TDP. Balakrishna could act as a catalyst to make this happen,” opined R. Venkata Ramana.
Party leaders are busy mobilising youth for the Yuva Garjana to counter the impact of Praja Rajyam, which has been attracting not only people from Chiranjeevi’s the community but across the board. “We are aiming at mobilising more than 12 lakh people from the coastal districts,” said TDP district president Prattipati Pulla Rao. -(hindu)
