Jagan to campaign for GHMC polls

The Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, will start campaigning for the party for the GHMC elections from Friday. He will begin his election tour from the Maheswaram Assembly segment in Ranga Reddy district, the seat of the home minister, Ms P. Sabita Indra Reddy.

Before taking up the campaign, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy will garland the statues of Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Ambedkar and Jagajivan Ram besides offering rituals at some temples and dargas.

On Friday and Saturday, he will cover 15 Assembly segments out of the 24 coming under GHMC area.

However, he will not touch Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar and Amberpet segments as there is no response from the local Congress MLAs and leaders. This is Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s first election campaign after the demise of his father, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Meanwhile, the PCC chief, Mr D. Srinivas, told mediamen on Thursday that the state Congress leaders need to learn from the Congress MP, Mr Rahul Gandhi, who said in Vijayawada that he did not want to become a Prime Minister in the future.

This is seen as a dig on the Kadapa MP who said a few days ago that he will certainly become the Chief Minister of the state one day.(DC)
