Kamal’s Dasavatharam in court
Dasavatharam, the film starring Kamal Hassan in 10 different roles, is facing problems even before its release. The actor-director is being accused of stealing the story from Senthil Kumar, an assistant director, who had filed the review petition with the honorable court in Chennai when his earlier petition was dismissed in favor of the actor. The review petition is coming up for hearing tomorrow (August 7th). Chief Justice AB Shaw ruled that the script of Dasavatharam along with an affidavit be submitted to the court. However, Kamal’s lawyer Sanjay Ramaswamy contended that such an act would lead to disclosure of the story which in turn would be a big problem to the entire project. However, the justice didn’t allow the contention. Kumar claims that the script for the film was written by him and on August 8, 2005, he gave the same to Murali, an employee of Rajkamal Films, which happens to be Hassan’s production company. The film is a mega production and apparently just one song of the movie is budgeted at Rs 3 crore. The film is being shot about 25 km from Chennai.
