Why Ready worked, Victory flopped

A producer once said before the opening of a film that the film’s hero has donned a role that none had ever tried and this film will definitely become a sensational hit. One can’t fool audiences, we have to tell stories that are close to reality, this film will not flop, the director did an amazing work said the writer of the film.
A film is launched only after the hero likes the subject, later the most important people sit in a discussion and the script writer begins with his work. There is no reason why the audience will not like it when so much care is taken. But if the film fails the ones who spoke in a grandiose manner about the film say that there is something in the film that went missing that the audience didn’t like but they will never accept that the fault is theirs.
When you hear a story first everything looks fine but when you see it on screen you get a clichéd feeling, the same thing happened with Victory. Though the narration was good, the direction lost his grip and you feel as if the subject was dealt with before. There is no novelty or freshness in the screenplay even though the subject is topical and it is a burning issue.
On the other hand look at Ready. There is hardly any story in it but the narration itself was very interesting and the comedy mixed with the cast performance was stupendous enough for the audiences to come into the theatres in droves. What is required is the involvement and concentration of the director till the completion of the project. For some movies story is important for others the screenplay is but on the whole when there is lack of grip on any of these the film fails at the BO. Understanding the pulse of the audience and reasoning with the subject is very essential to maintain the balance.
